Hydra can be used as a hub for day trips to the surrounding areas and islands
(A). With animals or by hiking, daily excursions and hiking to the mountains, make the visitor discover the hinterland and the monasteries that exist on the island through 11 self-guided routes.
(B).The round of the island, as an excursion, is being done daily, with boat, starting from 11.00 in the morning from the main port.There is plenty of time to have fast lunches or to swim to the beaches, before you reach back to the port.
(C). You can rent a car from Metochi, opposite from Hydra island, and visit archaeological sites of interest to the shores of Peloponnese, such as theAncient theatre of Epidavros, the palace of King Agamemnon in Mycenae, the Ancient Troizoina, the Ancient tombs of Magoulasin Galata. Also you can admire the Temple of Poseidon at Poros island and if you there by a small ferry boat.
(D). There are held daily cruises, with flying dolphins, to the islands of Poros, Ermioni, Spetses and Porto Xeli.
Poros is 30 minutes away from Hydra with the flying dolphin.
Ermioni is 25 minutes away from Hydra with the flying dolphin.
Spetses are 40 minutes away from Hydra with the flying dolphin.
Porto Heli is 50 minutes away from Hydra with the flying dolphin.
In the summer months of July and August, you can travel from Metochi by a V.I.P minibus 8 seats (Tel. +30 6976594753) to the Ancient Theater of Epidaurus, to watch a theatrical performance, from the summer festival of Epidaurus.
